Kris and Kristin’s wedding at The Belmont was a particularly special wedding for me to photograph. Back in 2011 I moved into a shared studio space in downtown Austin, and that’s when I first became friends with Kris. He’s a talented filmmaker (see his work here) and anyone who knows him will tell you that he has a heart of gold. What’s really cool is that I can remember having a conversation with Kris shortly after he started dating Kristin, and him telling me how crazy he was about her. Although I didn’t know her well at the time, I quickly realized why he liked her so much. Kristin is one of the nicest people you will ever meet with a smile that lights up the room, but most importantly she brings out the very best in Kris.
Since the very beginning, our entire group of friends have been behind this relationship and we figured it would only be a matter of time until they tied the knot. Last year, when Kris proposed to Kristin at Zilker Park, I was there hiding behind a tree with my camera. Needless to say, when the wedding day finally rolled around we celebrated and partied hard. I say ‘we’ because I felt like a guest at the wedding and half of the people there were my friends. There was so much love going around for the newlyweds making it a day to remember. I couldn’t be happier for my two friends, and I’m honored to have been there to document everything.
A special thanks to Kat Bevel for second shooting this one with me.
